About the Dwarf only kinships people have been trying to form. Take it from one that's been there it can't be done successfully. In order for a kinship to flourish and grow all classes are needed to form progressive kinship raids and events. There is no other way to do this except to have your other class/race characters in another kinship, which takes away from what you could be doing with that group of kin mates. So after learning early in the progression of this game, we discovered our history. The Sons of Durin is one of the largest community of players on Nimrodel who have come together for one common goal, to have a good time exploring Middle-earth. The Sons of Durin was founded during open Beta April 2007 on Nimrodel. If you are ready to join a Complete Kinship, not one under construction, then please visit our Kinship Site.
Our kin has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Our members are mature and friendly, and we have a staggering number of MMO veterans who have either raided and/or led guilds in other games.
Our kin offers raiding forays into all the latest areas. We also have a large number of experienced raid leaders to easily advance us through completion on multiple events. Our kin has a number of active players in the Ettenmoors, on both sides. We have many high ranked and experienced players who are willing to organise raids for our freep and creepside chapters.
We have a strong officer structure with Senior officers in charge of each division of kin. Our officers normally meet and are all active in improving the kinship. Our Kinship HOUSE is at 2 Highspires Street, Grorsvoll Thorin's Hall Homestead.
Kinship Community Etiquette - rules of acceptable behavior
Policies and Procedure
* Use of profanity out of context of the occasional casual comment will not be tolerated from SoD members unless you are absolutely certain that it does not bother the other people who you are with. If a conversation bothers someone that conversation must cease or be taken to private chat.
* SoD members are to treat other members and community with respect both in game and on the forums at all times.
* Constructive criticism is fine, but negative comments and accusations are not allowed. You should be able to take constructive critisism lightly.
* Any Kinship disagreements, concerns, or discussions should be done in private chat, Never in a group, raid or kinship chat where others that are not involved will be brought into it. If a problem cannot be resolved it should be escalated to an officer, if the problem still cannot be resolved or there is a problem with an officer it should be escalated to the leader/co-leader or our Leadership Team by way of our kin site.
Courteous behavior and a commitment to support our growing kinship community are the primary expectations of all our members. It is the policy of the Sons of Durin to deal with infractions of our rules and principles in measurement with the seriousness of the circumstances. While violation of the Sons of Durin’s rules and procedures are usually dealt with on a per incident basis, the seriousness of the infraction and the history of the kinship member involved are taken into consideration when deciding what course of action the kinship’s officer and leader will take. Possible responses to violation of rules and principles include but are not limited to:
* A private discussion with a kinship officer or leader.
* If applicable, retribution and/or compensation for items, time, and effort in relation to the incident.
* Requirement of a “public” apology to the offended persons in the incident.
* The issuance of a warning against future violation of the same rule(s).
* The issuance of a warning or demotion against future violations of any rule or policy.
* Removal from the kinship by a vote. Should the officers online vote to remove you through officer chat, in most cases you will be removed from the kinship permanently. The kinship reserves the right to skip the first and/or second warning if the situation warrants it.
These responses are subject to change at the discretion of the Sons of Durin officers and/or it’s leaders. By being an existing member or joining the Sons of Durin you agree to the principles, rules, policies and procedures.
To keep the thread bumped but also to just say the SoD is a good Kin to run around in. If you like to Raid or at least complete end game stuff the SoD is a good sort to help you get it done.
I run around alot with some SoD members for pretty much well over a year and a half now and they a good sort.
Raid Group 11 – Mirkwood Strike Force – Will be a unique Raid Group within the Son’s of Durin Kinship. Unlike the other Raid Groups there will be no leader or permanent members. I (Anirien and ALTs) – will organize events (post them on Kin Calendar) but may not lead or even be a part of some of the events. Anyone in the Son’s of Durin can send me an in-game mail to set up an event and lead that event.
Raid Group 11 – Is set up to schedule End Game Raids and Skirmishes. Participants in Raid Group 11 can also be in other permanent Raid Groups within the Son’s of Durin but you must have a character set up for End Game content. Participants must have at least 5 pieces of RAD gear + Loth. jewelry or equivaltent + 10’s in ALL slotted Virtues + 1st or 2nd Age LI’s. If you meet these requirements and are on-line at the time of the event – then watch for Kin Chat for invites. If you do not meet these requirements - the Kin will help you and you can join other Raid Groups to prepared for End Game Content. See Kin Calander for Scheduled Raid Group 11 – Mirkwood Strike Force – Events.
Yes, Gladgilrian, there is a website for these posts, and one can find it there also. What I think Anirien's intent was to provide an example of an SoD raid party, so that other LOTRO players may see what the kin is involved with raid-wise. The fact that it is our 11th raid group also gives a feel for how SoD helps provide raid assistance to its members.
There is already too much kin mail (in our kin and only my opinion), so I encourage kin website forum posting for this.
This I would consider a little advertising.

Eleven raid groups is very impressive. Heres a link to further advertise your accomplishments.
Yes, Anirien does like his moors raids. The Mirkwood Strike Force is more a loose assembly of higher level, accompished toons who run skirmishes, but you are not excpected to dedicate your time exclusively to that one raid group. It gives our members another level of fexibility for playing LOTRO.
So you came here to learn about SoD. Well here is my 2 cents. SoD is a very large and friendly kin with something like over 1200 toons and on any given 24 hour period of time over 400 toons login to play. On the weekends it could be more. At any time we usually have 1-4 pages in the kinship social panel.
Toons range from all lvls to new players to older players working their 7th-9th alt :-). Kinchat is generally helpful and events take place from time to time to help gear up, run older raids, class quests etc.
SoD has at least 6+ fully active raiding groups. 2 of which are currently working on the latest Raid in BG while still running DN, Watcher, Turtle and others to either finish off some rad gear sets, finish of deads, for fun etc.
There is currently a resurgance in Moors play within SoD and our last several runs have been filled with a full 24 man/woman all SoD raids.
I have been with SoD for well over a year now and watched it grow from a kin with less than 75 active players to the billions (er hundreds) we have now.
Ping an officer for a chat.

Just joined the kin recently and they have been great in supporting me as I learned the game. I am new to Middle-Earth and could not have asked for a better welcome to the game then from SoD and also from the other people here on LOTRO Forums.
Telenara's annual "Are You Chicken?" ~ Get ready by completing the first 3 quests at Sandson's Farm just north of Michel Delving.

Last Man Standing ~ Belraene style! See if you can run unaided from GV to Gramsfoot. The closest of the dead to Gramsfoot wins a Scroll of Empowerment! Monday 7/26 6:30PST
Telenara's Who's Chicken Run! Saturday 7/17 noon PST. Followed with a fireworks extravaganza hosted by Brugo!
The annual "Telenara's Are You Chicken Run" was a lot of fun! A great turnout and several members acquired the Cloak of the Cluck! Congratulations to all of you!
The starting events began with Brugo who organized a synchronized hobbit style line dance at Sandson's Farm! Then after the first break Brugo also organized us in shooting off fireworks!
Ziena was an awesome protector of our flock! Celeboron also became a protector after being *sob* killed as a chicken by a craban near Ost Garuth.
We had members play for 1 hour and some that lasted about 8 hours! What a persistent bunch!
Cheers!
Don't forget to mark you calendars for Monday 7/26 6:30pm PST for Last Man Standing ~ Belraene style in the Ettenmoors!
