I still wouldn't pay a wad of spit for improved housing.
'Nuff said.
Neither would I, any more than I'd have paid extra for the Bree update. It should be an upgrade to the current system, not a paid expansion. Still doesn't keep me from wanting it.
The navigation throughout the LotRO site is horrible. You can quote me on that.
You say "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" like it's a bad thing...
I too love messing with my house but it is extremely disapointing that the neighborhoods are indeed ghost towns. The neighbohoods need to be combined and there needs to be a motivation to go there other than minimal storage. We need full crafting facilities, an AH, vendors, vault and some kind of events to make it fun and convenient for people to go home. What use are all the decorations when no one ever sees them but you. I would buy and play a game that was just about housing design and interaction and there are many players who love the housing concept too. The way LOTRO is doing it makes it a waste of game time and a disapointing let down.
I am hopeful the housing revamp with breathe some new life into what is truly one of my favorite things about several games I had played in the past, including DAoC and EQ2. I can and did spend hours in EQ2 building and also working toward having homes I could be proud of.
Let's face it hooks do not work..there I said it. There are many things I find impossible about housing in LOTRO and they have been listed by others so I shall not bore you with re-posting them. I think others will echo my pleas for MANY more items, colors and ways to change how the interior and exterior of your house looks. Luckily in EQ2 housing was championed by a producer, Emily "Domino" Taylor with vision and a love of it herself and the momentum she created gave we carpenters (The people who make items for homes in there) much to play with and create. She listened to our input and allowed the housing system there to have a life onto its own. It will take someone dedicated and creative to vision this.
I have many homes in EQ2 and would be happy to show people what they look like and how the systems work there...There you can build homes from nothing but land, create aquariums, take a guild hall and change walls and floors and create to your hearts desire. It could be so in LOTRO as well, add crafting and NPCS to homes or housing areas, make us stables for our horses, let us put a couch, not a silly bench, in front of a fireplace! Let is fill our homes to make them uniquely ours!
Agreed, housing really does need to be updated, particularly for those of us who love to role play. Housing is so lacking at the present, not to mention uniform... Spruce up the system a bit I say.
There are some very good suggestions here, and what are probably some very impractical ones. (Transfering ownership seems one of the better ones, while 1 house/alt seems one of the latter, as it would only aggravate the "ghost town" effect.)
I've already shared my own suggestions and thoughts in other threads, so I'll just agree that improvements would be wonderful.
Please create more Neighborhoods, some players just want a certain house and waiting for one to be available is killing our morale.
Houses are so integral in Middle Earth. Sometime after the war is over, you just want to return to a place you could call home... and write a book about your adventures.

• The ability to place our items and furnishings wherever we want.
• The ability to acquire more item space for our home.
• More furniture! Especially seating.
• More rooms/more floorplan options.
• Bigger neighborhoods with more housing options per neighborhood.
From myself...welll
-I would dream about building by US every wall, door, window....
-More lvls ...also cellar ? [especially for hobbits :P]
-automatic neighbourhood creation if there is need..
-more storage AT LEAST FOR HOUSE DECORATIONS!!!!!! OR make house decorations "passive skill" so during customization of our house you can use everything you obtained so far.
Ultima Online had perfect housing system if you ask me....i know it was 2d...and here we have got 3d...but some of ideas could be brought here....
