Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
Good things, unfortunately, take time. I could well imagine that there absolutely aware of all the potential, especially thinking about the store, but certain limitation keeping them from implementing it right away - and thus it's put back in line until other things are solved or done.
Tbh I'm quite disappointed with the layout of the store all together. Browsing there is not easy or intuitive.
On the homesteads themselves I particularly don't understand why our houses are instanced as well. I would so love to leave the door open and just go in and out.
To anyone who is going to PAX - be our ambassador - ask them, let them know Housing is important, be heard, squeeze everything out of them
Say:
"Yes, RoI, nice nice, but let's talk about housing."
"Oh that looks like a neat feature definitely, what can you tell me about housing though."

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
/signed please!
I'm very new to the game myself, but I can say one of the reasons I picked LOTRO as my new MMO was the talk about housing. I can understand the 1 house per account, though it's still a little tough on my decorating instincts, but barely being able to use the dozens of furniture pieces I have is not so fun. And I just have things from the vendors! More slots would be wonderful, or better yet, the ability to move stuff around even! But more slots for stuff, pretty, pretty please!

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
Yeah, come on Turbine! Make housing more enjoyable rather than being just a big closet.
I know this has been said before, but I must reiterate, why not in-house crafting stations?
One idea I had, not sure if anyone else thought of this, but if we could lay down in our beds we could get all negative effects take away?
Also for a short while after getting up from bed, we could have some sort of buff?

3 years and still nothing

Programmatically there must be huge hurdles to overcome otherwise I cant see why upgrades havent been considered yet. It would be a huge draw and lotro store moneymaker.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
Doesn't matter if any Mods are listening to us. it's the Devs that need to read and interact with us about this issue. And from what I see on other threads, there isn't much interaction from any of the LOTRO/Turbine staff.
On a side note: I broke down and bought a deluxe house, only due to the fact that the location is great. Now I pay rent for something I'll seldom use. I will keep it due to its location and in the hopes that one day these folks will remove thier heads from the dark places they reside in and fix the housing and make it something all of us who are home owners will be proud of.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
I posted a similar thread in the wrong section obviously, a little new to the forums but not the game. Going on 3 1/2 yrs. I really like having housing, I just wish they could get a little more creative with it so that we could too
But in the thread I had started, I was given a millions reason why they wont/cant update housing. So if I am in the right place, and this is the petition thread I was guided to, then I /sign my name on the dotted line! Its time for an update for housing!

Please Turbine, I think it would go a long way if we could finally have a response from a Dev saying one way or another if Housing updates are at least being considered. If not a simple "We have no plans of updating housing at this time" would at least let us know where things stand. In many areas you have been great in responding to suggestions and comments and have even implemented them in some cases. I think the Lotro community has provided more than enough feedback and some great ideas on Housing over the past 3+ years and are ready for some type of official response.

I also think not just Kinship houses should have Huge/Enormous yard, but Deluxes as well.
There should be housing in other lands as well. Moria, Lothlorien, Rivendell, Forochel! etc...
I believe we should be able to sell our houses.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
I'd just like to see some type of responce from Turbine on this issue. I mean really, if you don't plan on doing anything with housing..just be adults and tell us. And if you plan on doing something, just a nod from some official type would be amazing. I cannot for the life of me grasp why Turbine has been so totally devoid of acknowledgment on this thread. I read a lot of other forums here and also notice that Turbine doesn't interact very well with us. Being too busy is a cop out..so don't throw that old dead horse into the fray. I thought SOE's Devs and Mods were bad but at least they showed up on the forums once in awhile and some even actually were helpful. So hey Turbine how about you man up and speak up..it's the adult thing to do.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
/Signed!
I'm a founding member and remember watching lotro for a while leading up to its release. I was very excited for the housing features that were supposed to be included. I was glad when they finally added housing in. They were supposed to add some improvements to housing but as it stands 4yrs later and nothing... I had to take a break because of school and other RL commitments for a while, and while I love the game I was sad to see housing was left as it was before I had to take a break.
Some of the things that I would love to see include: Of course no hooks, the ability to upgrade the interior and exterior of houses, varied floor plans, housing in other zones where lore appropriate. I'd really like to see special larger housing outside of neighborhoods in various zones(Still instanced), these would be much more expensive then the houses in neighborhoods. They should be unique and require some exploration to find. The design should reflect the area, I know someone on another thread mentioned finding a cave and being able to use the interior as your home, or personally I'd like to have a house deep in the woods that one could get lost trying to find.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
Yes, signed, lol.
I'm a lifer and generally appreciate the relatively slow pace this game is moving. What's the point in having to learn an MMO anew if you haven't been around for a couple of months?
However, if there's one thing I could immediately change or that would make me put real money to it, it would be housing.
I had stopped playing regularly around the time when housing was introduced and when I came back a couple of months ago, it was the first thing I went to check out.
It was when I entered my atrociously designed hobbit hole that it dawned on me that absolutely NOTHING has changed. That's just gross, Turbine!
Here you have a mechanic for a really cool permanent showroom for players achievements in the game that could stand the test of time throughout Expansions and you're treating it like an ugly stepchild? Really?

Also, instead of certain types of homes in certain lots, I'd like to be able to just buy a lot, and then pick from a selection of sizes/floorplans, each with their own price. Then there would be some variation between neighborhoods. This would also solve the problem of hoods running out of certain housing sizes.Nimrodel: Lillianeth (LM), Heldene (CH), Bremarth (H),

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
I do like LOTRO but the reason I do not paly a lot is because of the housing...
1. Its has a high cost to purchase and than the weekly upkeep is also high
2. limited space for trophies to be displayed.
3. Limiting how we can display/decorate
4. House pets, I have a ton in EQ2
I PAY FOR MY EQ2 account faithfully every month because of housing...by the way you can now own multiple housing per character...so whether I play or not I still have my home, I just make my weekly rent payment and re-enter my home.
Turbine is awesome but the limits put on our imagination is wrong..
free up the housing to allow decorating to be easier
and maybe drop the weekly cost a bit I mean in EQ2 the basic Inn you start out with is 5 silvers a week, the price increases with each Inn room or house, and if I do not play for a while I just do not pay until I return which I'm about to go play now!
Still love LOTRO though they just need to fix this issue after all enough people have made the suggestions.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
I'll happily /sign any petition to improve housing. I'm really disappointed with Turbine. It's like they're taking the self-defeating path certain other companies have taken (poorly implementing a "feature", then pointing at the poor reaction by players as an excuse not to improve it :/ - see also Cryptic and Star Trek Online re: Klingons :P But I digress)
There are tons of little things they could do to improve housing that really wouldn't take THAT much extra effort. If they'd just put in the work, I'm sure their data would reflect it.
Anyway, I happily bought 7 Chestnut because I absolutely fell in love with the view, but with the scant decorations available I really don't know what I'm going to do with it yet.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
I believe it would be kool if they had some kind of like crafting thing you could buy if you got to like, kindred with the guild. Something you could put in your house to craft in it! I think people would use their houses a lot more often rather than it being a more neglected portion of the game. Like if you had the option of buying a superior workbench, study, forge, etc.
Also housing update in general would just be much appreciated! XD

AW: Petition for housing system upgrade
So first of all I am apologizing for my english, I haven't writen englisch for over 10 years or so.
The housing system of lotro isn't that bad, but there are some improvments that should be very easy to realise.
1. We don't need hooks, without them it would be easy to make your house your home and feel comfortable.
2. Why can't we put crafting zones into out neighborhoods or even in our home? I would love to have an little forge in my backyard or elsewhere in MY ground.
3. I have abandond my house at the dwarven neighborhood because I needed some space with water, so I rent an house in the neighborhood of that filthy little hobbits... my friends have rent a house in the bree neighborhood... I would love to life near them BUT I am not willing to pay another 7 oder 8 gold just to rent a new house... If I would get some back from my actually house, then I would leave the neighborhood and go to bree. So let us sell our homes pleasy, not even for the full price!
4. The neighborhoods are an great idea, but please put in soome wandering NPCs or pets... Most of the time in there I believe I am the only thing that lives in there!!!
5. I would love a new craft to build only furniture and such things.
I have played UO for many years only for my house. I didn't have any great fighter or so... I just had my worker and build some furniture for my house and friends.... I love Lotro and I love Middle-Earth! So please give us the best housing that has ever beend released! I know you can do this!

Two things I would luv to see:
1. Stables in the housing instances.
2. Housing instances in higher level areas.
And since deluxe houses are limited how about more storage for normal houses.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
It'd be nice to have:
1 - Port to and from house (be able to go to the house and back to where you were previously, for a large fee of course - possibly VIP or TP only?).
2 - More permissions control, allow us to set various different levels of permissions including letting them pay for rent, teleport to the house that you bought, open the mailbox, etc...

One more idea (sorry if it's already been said):
Why use different items to color walls and floor? They're the same colors.
I'd like to see one item per color that can be applied to wall, floor AND furniture.
It would be nice if we could change color to the furniture as well.

I'm afraid the last game i played with housing was oblivion, and made the assumption due to the nature of this game, that housing would be even more awesome, but instead after much saving and buying the house finally, i was incredibly disappointed. It drives me nuts that i have a lot of small furniture and a number of empty large spots, why can my item not go there, in reality it could GAH!

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
You understand the mechanics of 'housing'. It may be that some games do not understand that mechanic.
While going through quests and deeds you have some activity, but each of those items are just a line in a completed quest form as you move to the next quest, or in some cases unlocking some abilities. And much of MMOs is about accomplishment, about achieving something. Even if is is only time in a game, it is still some challenge, and then some accomplishment.
The housing is a repository of each of those accomplishments, and by having a robust housing, where different achievements are seen, even if mostly only by the player, it becomes a form of journal for the player experiences over time.
While each level, each new character, and many quests is another thing to 'accomplish' the housing is a way to revisit those accomplishments and by that, it gives them more value, and ties together the separate experiences into a coherent story line for the time playing the game.
It is a visual interactive representation of accomplishment in a game. Then on top of that is the creativity of style for the method of decoration.
So it makes sense to have many more housing options.
Items like Epic armor, player crafted armor, and special costume items, can have that same functionality, as a person has some item that represents an accomplishment. Also why gaining such items should be difficult, since the feeling of accomplishment is proportional to the difficulty.Last edited by Retrell; Sep 19 2011 at 07:19 AM.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
I honestly dont really think that the houses thier selves should be upgrade but more or less the community areas i think they should add in like a community crafting area it could even be like and upgrade that after so many people donate enough money to thier community that they get a crafting hall. this would promote more use of the houseing area and might even get turbine to look toward your other suggestions but as it stands right now most dont even use thier houses thats why they are probably not thinking about upgrading them.
