Petition for housing system upgrade
I cant say strongly enough that we need a better system than housing wall hangers. Simply there is just not enough spots to put all the cool stuff. I propose one of two things must be done please.
1. Please give us more spots to hang, place, and display our housing items.
2. Better than that would be to let us put our interior items wherever we like. Please do away with interior hangers all together. Housing in other games do it, so I know Turbine as good as they are can do it too. I understand the outdoor scenario, but inside we should be able to decorate at will to a certain number of items.

3. Please allow us to transfer ownership to one of our alts so that we can delete characters that have been dormant for OVER A YEAR NOW.

4. Please allow us to sell, or at least somewhat recoup the costs on our house, because they're pretty much useless other than for storage or a trophy case that no one ever looks at.

5. Please allow us MORE storage.
6. Please allow Hobbit housing to be more lore appropriate.
7. Please allow us windows we can actually see out of.

I don't doubt there are such things in motion, I just wish we had some sort of 'honeydo' list from Turbine so that we know what they were working on in what order...though that would take some of the thrill out of it and probably promote more nagging from the player base.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
That is true. I have every trophy in the game including all festival trophies (or at least access to them i.e. rep vendors). Except of course, the three that dont drop: mistress egg and the two from Tham Mirdain (Yes, the Mammoth trophy finally drops!). Anyways, I have all my slots filled, and I keep having to replace my non-bound items with my BoA items. With that, I STILL have a full housing chest and 1/2 of non-bound items and a full bank chest of BoA items.
Please, give us an options to:
A. have more slots
B. BUY more slots
C. BUY additional rooms /chests.
D. BUY more yard decorations.
E. Collapse the nieghborhoods and put the ineffective/non-payed houses together and switch it with used.
E - would require some effort and manually going in and switching it out. To accomplish this, just make a list where people can sign up who are willing to switch nieghborhoods, but still keep the same house. Or just do away with the system, because the problem with it before was that people would leave and come back and there house AND ITEMS were gone. Now, escrow never deletes items, so they would only loose there house. There are so many options that can turn this around that it baffels me how nothing has been done.
Note: With C - this chest will be different as it can hold BoA items and not sharable by other members/toons. This will eleviate the problem of BoA housing items, for the mean time.Leader of R.A.I.D. (Rememberme's Awesome Instructional Directions).

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
I think Turbine is doing a good job for housing, the only thing I would like to see is the deadbeats kicked out!!! On FireFoot out of like 20 instances there is 2-3 personal houses left, In my neighborhood, there is 10 houses locked because they did not pay upkeep and one of those house I want because 2 of my kinship houses are there.
1. I want those houses available on the market
2. Wouldnt mind the option of seeing a cellar in the future
3. The Idea of no hook, the freedom of putting stuff wherever you want seems appealing!
and btw, we do not need more instances for housing IMHO, 3/4 of most instances are ppl who does not play or does not pay upkeep. If those ppl would be out of the instances, we would not have to beg for new ones, and when we get new instances the whole thing will happen over and over again. If the deadbeats are kicked out, ppl will start buying houses in old instances again, which will fix the problem of ''ghost towns''Last edited by UFCfreak; Jan 23 2009 at 12:58 PM.

I had to agree with what UFCfreak said about the problem in the housing instances.
There are too many no-longer-played player who has deleted their account but still have the house under their toon's name, which creating the problem we are seeing right now. These current housing issues could be fix if Turbine developer consider put these things in place .....
- After 6 months of un-paid upkeep or once account or toons been deleted, it is automatic put back in the market to be use again. (stuff that was in the house/chest will be transfer to Escrow Broker with current system in placed.)
- give house owner more option on how the house deco should be place, freely.
- agree on the windows should be able to see out, gives the appearance of Glass Windows.
- Allow Deluxe house owner to have one Huge yard deco.
- etc...
not sure how to do the quote things... but RighteousMF what you said on #9, it is changed into current system from before.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
Here's my dream upgrades, from practical and roleplay standpoints...
1. Couches, chairs, benches, hassocks, whatever(!) to sit on. When we have meetings in our kinship hall or friends in our home, nothing looks sillier than everyone sitting on the floor. We are planning a "Dinner at the Pathfinders" RP night soon. I'd love to have a table to gather 'round, with chairs!
2. What's with all the empty floor space?? Must have been men that designed the housing. ~wink~
3. A kitchen for the cooks, with storage for food ingredients and the option to purchase a superior oven for the house. I would pay vast amounts of gold for both of those. Often when I'm cooking, I forgot an ingredient or run out of room to carry them. If I have made the trip from my vault in Michel Delving over to the crafting area I have made it a hundred times.
4. "Social" food, that can displayed on a table, picked up and eaten.
Houses should be more than static things to decorate. Want community happening in the housing areas? Give them usability.

I'm a new LOTRO player who just switched over from SWG, which I played almost exclusively for my home.
I think that Aeslynn hit the nail on the head. Players love their homes.
We want for our homes in LOTRO to be more than just walk-in closets. We want them to be showpieces and hangouts for us and our friends.
Basically, if you want to know what we want, look at housing in SWG and EQ2. That's what we want to see brought to LOTRO.
• The ability to place our items and furnishings wherever we want.
• The ability to acquire more item space for our home.
• More furniture! Especially seating.
• More rooms/more floorplan options.
• Bigger neighborhoods with more housing options per neighborhood.
[I do have to throw a thumbs-up at Turbine for the "neighborhood" idea. I feel that it is far more efficient and nicer-looking than the "slap your house anywhere" system of other MMOs.]

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
This has nothing to do with the Sims.
If that's what it takes to get housing improved, I'm all for it. As a matter of fact, I suggested a small retail upgrade that would be 90% fluff. I'd shell out $20 in a heartbeat for a better housing system, more hobbies, etc.AdderHidden Nuggets we see all the time... - Hall of Fame ForumAdder’s /Mood_y /Emotes Compendium - LoreBookAnnouncing LOTRO Total Housing Redesign! - Suggestions Forum

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
This would be fantastic, but I doubt it would happen.
LOTRO does need a serious housing update though. We bitched and bitched to get housing in the first place, and were contented with it for a while. But even at release, the housing system was lacking. Half the time I forget I even have a house except when my vaults get full and I need to find somewhere to store something, or my payment due message comes up. My houses (kinhouse shared with wife, and deluxe house) are both full of trophies and decorations with hardly any room for more. Whenever I visit the housing instance, it feels like a complete ghost town, like walking through Forochel (still the best place to level 45-50), only worse.
At minimum, please, get rid of the hooks, at best, a complete overhaul. I wouldn't complain about spending 50g on a 10'x10' shack if I could craft additions to the place, even if adding a kitchen took 500 mallorn or some ridiculous amount.
Sims style housing, place walls, basements, staircases, etc, etc, would be utterly amazing mind you.
Bookcases to store recipes & pages (well, guess these are out now), cold cellar/cupboards to store food/ingredients, closets/dressers for cosmetics. These things alone can fill chests, and unfortunately, just get vendored because I can never remember what recipes each toon has, and can't keep the vault space for all the one-shots out there...Last edited by Kril; Dec 21 2009 at 12:23 AM.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
Signing.
I love my house. I bought the deluxe house in the Bree Neighborhood with the gazebo that's currently MIA. I love decorating it and collecting new stuff for it. I get excited about each festival coming around because it's a chance to get more stuff for my house. So now I have a ton of decorations that I'd love to use, but can't because I don't have enough hooks for them. This annoys me.
My two smaller rooms look great. One is set up as a bedroom, the other as a study. The main room is awful though. Despite having used most of the furniture hooks in it, it still looks barren. About I have left are thin furniture hooks despite the fact that there really isn't that much thin furniture. I would love it if we had the ability to just put stuff wherever we want it.
The Housing Vendors are a complete fail. They sale a ton of flooring and wall stuff, but practically no good furniture. About all we can make for ourselves is decoration type stuff and some bookcases. There's practically no seating options and most of the so-called large furniture is tiny, thus the barren rooms. Turbine, we love all the pretty little decorations, but there's not enough practical furniture. No one in real life has a table without seating.
I don't have much of a problem with the yards, but I do think if we're going to have hooks outside, there should be more of them. My yard is massive, but I have practically nothing in it and all the hooks are clumped up right at the door. As a result, I've got a ton of stuff crammed up on my house and an empty yard. Quite frankly, it looks weird.
I had a normal house previously that I had to walk away from to get my deluxe house. That's a lot of money to just throw away. We should be able to sell our houses back or sell them to other players.
The upkeep thing needs to go. If we're keeping up our game subscriptions, why do we need to pay in game? We're obviously playing the game, so why are we being punished because people abandon the game and never come back?
We need some kind of neighborhood activities. I've owned a home for over six months, in two different neighborhoods. I've never seen any of my neighbors in all that time. There are practically no NPCs either. As a result, the neighborhoods look like Skrulls kidnapped everyone or something. We need a reason to come home other than dumping stuff in our storage vaults.

I dont know about anyone else but Id also like the ability too craft in my own home. Create a system where your house can be expanded (with more chest's and rooms) so you can have a shop. I dont want to have a vendor or anything, but I would like the be able to have Superior (insert tables or forge here) in my own home.Men are disturbed not by things that happen, but by their opinions of the things that happen. - Epictetus (55-135)

The thing that sold me on this game was player housing, I was so excited about it. I think the neighborhoods are beautiful. Yet, I was really disappointed by the hook system, and how out of the way the neighborhoods are. I would like to be able to go 'home' at the end of the day, but I find I have to 'map' out of the house whenever I want to leave. Why not have a horse leading back out of the neighborhoods?

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
I agree with many of the ideas posted. One thing I think would be an improvement is instead of the option to buy a pre-designated house is make the available spaces lots with the option to choose which house you want to put in the lot ranging from cottage to estate, with the option to upgrade. And sell different size lots (i.e. small, medium, large, etc...) which would have different quantities of "yard hooks". That way you could put a large house in a small lot and have very few "yard hooks" or put a small house in a large lot for the inverse. That would allow people to choose the location of the neighborhood that they found most appealing and put whichever house fit their desire. Also multiple exits would be nice so you don't have to either map out or run from one side of the neighborhood to the other to exit, and would make some house locations more appealing. Apart from that I think increasing the size of each neighborhood as well as making it more of a town with a city center including vendors and crafting halls, etc...would be great and also would help reduce the lag issue in some of the major cities as people would hopefully return to the neighborhoods instead of standing around the prancing pony doing nothing.

All-in-all Turbine has done a good job, however if even half of the ideas in this discussion were implemented it would go a long way into making the game much more enjoyable for countless gamers, myself included.Last edited by ebmusicman38; Jan 02 2010 at 03:51 PM.

My ideas
1 - Allow a Stabble for our horses on our houses
2 - Allow more interact stuff, like sleep on beds or mirrors
3 - Allow more houses sizes or diffrents visual (inside and outside) for houses with the same size
4 - Allow pets for houses, i see birds, but why we cant have dogs, cats, or fishs?.
5 - How about parents? like house-wifes or kids running around ( ok, thats too much but looks nice)
6 - I can see windows outside, but i cant see windows inside, this is surreal! :P
7 - Could have employed, maid, gardener, etc.

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
The most common excuse for not revamping housing is that it takes time away from other projects that people care about more. Well I say with a revamp, more people would care about it.
New endgame is all well and good, but with new expansions, it's going to get harder and harder for new people to reach, meaning developing new and improving existing early stages needs to be a priority as well. They already put a good amount of time and effort into revamping early Bree quests, why not spend some of that time on housing?

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
If Asheron's Call could do housing hooks where you could put any item you wanted on a hook... let LOTRO do the same, considering it's a far more advanced game!
If it were up to me, take hooks out all together, but the way items are in this game I think hooks are the way to go, but do it like AC did it. No small, large, thin requirements. Let us put any of our items where we want! Thats what makes houses unique! The way things are now does not make a house unique!
I have old bows and weapons I would LOVE to put on my walls.. Maybe make that a start... add the ability to add weapons to hooks!

Re: Petition for housing system upgrade
The housing in EQ2 was my favorite part of that game. I'd spend hours decorating and redecorating, buying and making furniture, and playing with my house pets. My daughter was the same way, and would spend all the money I gave her on furnishings. She once spent two platinum on a pet baby dragon. There is a lot of freedom in where you can place things. You can resize them, make them float, turn them to just about every angle... and on and on. If you want to see what I mean, here are a couple of my old places (these links lead to the EQ2 boards) -- Quabbin's Home and Aileas's... uh, sushi bar.
Really, though, I do love LOTRO and I absolutely adore having a yard (something you don't get in EverQuest 2) -- and I don't want the housing to be exactly like EQ2 (I mean... I made a widescreen T.V. - a little bit anachronistic, I think) but I just wish I could put that doggone bearskin rug in front of my fireplace.

Why not do what the ppl are asking for
maybe a lil incentive for the developper's...one time 19.99$ buy for total freedom of your house...bet everyone would jump on it..including me
and I would still like to see ppl not paying for their houses being kicked out of the neighborhood like it was in the good old days!!
