Who: The Crescent Order. We think of ourselves as a casual-friendly kinship that also participates in raids and other large-scale events. Real life comes before gaming in all situations, and we understand that not everyone can be online all the time.
The majority of TCOers are in their mid-20s or older, but applications are judged based on the maturity of the applicant more so than their age. We also have several members who are relatives of one another or are significant others so there is a strong sense of family to be found in our kinship.
What: We are a multi-game guild which has been around for over a decade, so you can rest assured we not only know how to play MMOs and enjoy them, but we also know how to retain a happy, active membership. We were originally formed for Star Wars Galaxies (SWG), playing on the Chilastra server and, over the years, have branched out into other games including, most recently, SWtOR. In LotRO, meanwhile, we are one of the few Firefoot kinships that was created during open beta which are still going today and currently sit at Rank 10. We have longevity in LotRO and as a guild overall.
When: Most of our members playing LotRO are based in the US and, of that number, a slight majority are east coasters. We do have quite a few west coasters, however, and several overseas members, not to mention shift-workers and some students. As a result, there always tends to be a body of TCO people logged onto the server.
Where: All over Middle Earth! Although the sweet-spot for members tends to be level 50-75 these days, we have many members who enjoy playing alts so, at any given time, it's possible to see TCO from the newbie areas right through to Moria, Mirkwood and Isengard. Never been there? Let us take you there. We have a Kinhall in the Falathlorn homesteads, with member homes in that neighborhood as well as elsewhere.
Why: Our philosophy is to have fun in-game, whilst maintaining a mature disposition, befitting a group of people who are mostly aged in their mid 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. Although we have some members with an interest in raiding and PvMP, they are balanced by just as many members who are solely interested in the PvE content of LotRO, or even just socialising with a "nice" bunch of like-minded people who aren't going to hold a grudge if they can't log in every day, or if someone gets lucky with a loot role during questing. That key word again: maturity. We probably cannot be easily categorized in many respects but if someone was to refer to us as a "casual" kinship, we certainly wouldn't object to that. We aren't a group for hardcore LotRO raiders, although we do have enviable numbers and do raid with our friends and allied kins.
How: Assuming you don't have a character name that will break other members' immersion in Middle Earth (like Beerman or DonutChugger or HarriPotta), here's the process:
Register at www.thecrescentorder.com by clicking the "Apply to Guild" link. (If you don't have a GuildLaunch account, you'll need to create one -- you can do this after clicking "Apply.")
Send a PM to Theofrid, letting me know you've applied. I'll get you set up with posting access, and will arrange an in-game kin invite.
Once you have posting access, introduce yourself at our forums!
When it's time to move from "recruit" status to full member, you'll receive our application as a PM at our forums. In most cases, promotion occurs when you've been with us 30 days and have sent in the application. (See the "fine print" below.)
The Fine Print: During this first month that you are with us, you are regarded as "on probation" with the kinship and while you are treated like a member in-game, you won't have full access to our online forums, which is where the soul of the kinship resides and where all planning and voting occurs. At the end of that month, our officer group will determine whether you're a fit for us and we're a fit for you. If we think everything's OK, we will send you an application form to join us as a full member, which opens up our private forums to you.
Why the probationary period? At the end of the day, it means that anyone wearing the tag "TCO Member" on our forums has proven themselves as a mature and capable person, able to interact socially with the kin. We have used this recruitment style in numerous MMOs over the past ten years and, time and time again, it has ensured one of the most stable guild experiences in all of online gaming. Just look around and ask yourself how many kinships you can see that have existed for even a year or two, let alone ten.

Still recruiting and doing quite well. As has been stated we're a fairly casual kinship though we manage to do radiance runs, Carn Dum, and other instances fairly regularly. We also do book quests as a kinship on a weekly basis if not more frequently.
If you're looking for a laid-back, easy-going group of people give us a try.
TCO has been having a great month, with several members decked out in full Radiance gear, and many others close to acquiring the full set. We've been hitting the Radiance instances with a full kin group three or four times a week (and usually making several runs each time, to spread the gear around). We've also been running Lowbie Nights in the Lonelands and North Downs, getting alts and newcomers past those early books and the Dol Dinen/Fornost quests.
We remain a casual kinship, dedicated to helping our members with whatever part of the game they enjoy -- whether that be levelling, crafting, raiding, or just hanging out in Middle-Earth with a friendly group of folks. We have a lot of very experienced players, but we're also happy to introduce new players to the game as well. Hey hey, decided to post here. Well, wondering if I should check you guys out; let me know if If I should apply; pretty sure I would fit right in :P.
I have a lvl 60 on Firefoot named Estuvinento and have been playing on and off since release, made mt final comeback with the expansion and do not plan on leaving.
Ever since the beginning I was in the Diciples kinship, still am. At one point, few months back, I left and joined this huge kinship, forget the name, started with A. That lasted a day, I came back the very next morning . They were really big, with over 100 members on, and really were kinda weird and showed off non stop, was impossible to even ask anything or start a normal chat.
Why am I looking then? I love Diciples, awesome group of people and fun to chat with. Unfortunately, not too many people get on. When they are on, we rarely get anything going really. As is, on a good night, we probably have JUST enough to run an instance . I currently have 4/6 radiance pieces, have yet to get gloves and shoulders. Have tried to get a group for gloves for ages now, pugs ended up dying pretty fast in FG . I think tomorrow is the day to get gloves though, have it arranged, sort of...hehe
Anyway, I would not even bother looking as I love the people in the kin, but I feel as if I want a little more. I love questing, love grouping. Love chatting with people and respect everybody. I am by no means uber casual, but I do have limits. Granted, with my buddy getting LOTRO I have been playing a bit much lately, but I plan to cut back. My plan is to try to play most evenings, anywhere from 1-4 hours a night I would say. I really would love nothing more but to raid every now and then, maybe even get a drop or two, hehe. WIth my current kin, I simply do not see anything like that happening. People that are active, well, only a handful actually have most of their radiance pieces. If I was to try and get them to run a raid, they won't even be able to get in.
Anyway, point being, as casual as they are, some do not care about the radiance pieces, thus won't be able to do the Watcher. I really am attached to the great people I know, but I really do want to expand my game a bit.

I do get attached to the people I play with. If I am a fit, I would not go anywhere for a long time. I basically want a friendly/active kinship that does not mind doing things every now and then. I love instancing and would love to raid in the future. Do not mind helping people out and enjoy questing anywhere really. An ideal kinship would be laid back, very cool and would care about their members. They would also want to group up and do things every now and then.
Think I am in the ballpark? :P Reason I posted here is that I do not want to leave my kin and be dissapointed. I really would hate to let them down and leave again just to come back the day after.

Didn't get to finish the conversation this morning, mate.. Very sorry for that. I'm not sure you IM'd me again after my last comment, but it seems my chat filters were kind of screwy.

We have a great mix of people, from college students, to soldiers, to parents, to retirees. We also have characters that range from 5-60, including newb friends AND raiding types.
We love to be kind and helpful to new folk, and we help them learn the ins and outs of the game without them having to feel stupid.
In our kin, we understand that real life comes first.
Anyway, just wanted to say, that I love my kin, and the people in it. I feel lucky to be a part of a rare group of helpful and relatively drama-free people. I think there was drama once in 2001, but then we shook hands, solved our differences and mushed lots of bad guys.

The Crescent Order is still going strong and growing. At the high end, we are hitting the 12-man raids weekly (Dar Narbugud and Barad Guldur). The Crescent Order recently celebrated ten years within the gaming community. It was first started in Star Wars Galaxies and has taken part in several games over the years. The Kin was formed in Lotro April 2007 and has seen many years on Firefoot. They’re looking for some fellow players that would like to join them for general gaming as they tend to be a casual bunch. They welcome anyone interested to take a look at they're website and see what you think. They have a great group of people willing to offer advice as well as helping fellow kin mates.

I have a burglar that is at lvl 60 and a rune-keeper presently at 42. The previous kin I was in is no longer. I have vent but just so you know I basically only have used in it raids. i am a very shy person and have now been playing for about 18mths. My main tune name is Rosetulip and my lvl 42 is Zeenat. I enjoy helping others with their quests. I am usually on at least twice a week. Do not mind being on a 30 day probation.
