If you change your settings to be the "Full WYSIWYG" (1st step in the guide) you'll be able to just click the smiley. Or if you want to type it out it's : rolleyes : without the spaces between anything.

Here's a question for a forum expert; how does one lose a hundred posts or so from their post count? I was over 10k and today I am under tht number. Very strange.

That I'm not sure on since I can't see behind the scenes. I would say it was post deletion, but on forum purges, my number hasn't gone down so that leaves me with no answer but.... I simply don't know.

That would probably need a mod to answer.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't have noticed had I not pasted the 10k mark recently. It's no biggie. I was just curious. I don't think I post anything so bad or incendiary that it would need a mass purge or anything.

Just wanted to give a big thank Romoen for writing this up. I've poked around on the forums for the past couple years, but never got around to setting up a sig and posting! This was a nice help (just look at that smiley).

Forum pruning does not affect post count because we do not reset the counters when we prune. Considering there hasn't been any pruning of the live forums since the last announced one, that cannot be the cause. However, we are removing old and archived beta posts from MoM and SoM. These posts haven't been viewable or searchable for over a year and their removal should not be causing any drop in your post count.

Well I just lost another 40 posts or so off of my count. 9959 right now when it was in the 9980's this morning.

They should just turn off the post count as i have seen in the past on forums I ran that people where more worried about post count.

Well I am just curious. It seems odd to be losing posts when people keep posting that there is no reason to be losing posts. I know they will all get deleted in the end but I just keep noticing it happen and it makes me curious.

Whats up with the LOTRO Signature files giving errors? Any eta on a fix?

Well something is happening because G and I have been noticing this for quite awhile. Our post counts have taken a dip several times. It's certainly not a big deal, but it would be nice to know why it's happening.

So uhhhhhhh.... this probably doesn't need to be a sticky anymore.

Assuming the query sorts by server alphabetically, simply change the first number in the sig link to refer to your correct server.
Examples: 03 = Brandywine, 05 = Landroval

Actually it turns out that Arkenstone is 08
You can see that if you view any Arkenstone Sig link image...right click the image and view the link. Arkenstone sig links begin:

But that I don't think is the issue.

It seems the only sigs available on the new Forums is the one that was configured before the move.

My last configured was Armonhammer....

But doesn't currently exist.

Seems they only saved one rendered sig for the move
or...the rendering engine is down...

incidentally...you can find your last sig by going to the very very top of the forums page and select My Preferences and then My Forum Settings. Once on the forum settings page select Edit Signatures.

Scroll down to where you select a sig and start cycling through all your toons and selecting one of the 4 default images. If the sig pic exists it will automatically appear above the default images as a preview.

This sticky needs to be re-edited to reflect the changes in the new forum software. You might want to just restart it as there are lots of posts that have nothing to do with signatures and stuff. Also the signature picture stuff doesn't seem to be working.

I'm not even sure I'm going to bother with making another guide but seeing as I'm not a paid Turbine employee how about you give me more than 12 hours to get to work on one should I decide I even want to bother to? LOL

The character signatures are not working for me as well.

Pretty please with hobbits on top? Not sure if anyone else has got this going on but going to the signature editor to view my characters it always says...

"Select one of the fabulous signatures from the list of your characters below!

There is no recent information about your characters available. Please log into the game to refresh your characters."

This always appears and it doesn't matter how many times I log in or out. I've even tried to make a new character and nothing.

Unstuck the thread for now; thanks VERY much to romoen for creating and maintaining it for so long!

i used to have this problem, untill i discovered that m linkifaction plugin for firefox was messing with it. adding the forums to the linkifaction blacklist while i was editing my sig fixed the issue

Is there any ETA on when the character signature will start working again?

I only unstickied it to avoid confusion and because romoen indicated that it should be (and it's her thread!). I'm happy to re-sticky it if it seems appropriate.

I think most people would appreciate a guide for the new Forum mechanic. I for one am having a devil of a time finding a great many things, mostly for my own settings. To top it off little things are still bugged with it (signatures, join date). Just figuring out how to make a new journal post took me 10 minutes sheesh...

Hats off to romoen for the previous version.

Not to keep repeating the same question but since no one seems to have gotten an answer: when can we expect the forum signatures and avatars to work correctly again?

A couple things

1. The forum lets me upload an avatar but I can't delete it or upload a different one


2. Since this is unstickified, you may want to remove the link to it in the Site Help section of player portal.

ok so i must be blind. I can't find the "user control panel" anywhere. Up the top right of the screen I have a "my preferences". But under that I can't find anywhere to add signature despite looking a lot. Character settings just let me link my character (which i've done) and nowhere in forum settings can I find a display or edit signature option. what am i missing?

My Preferences, in the top right, should have a little down arrow next to it....does it? When you hover over it, you'll get a drop down. Go to My Forum Settings, and there's a box in the left margin that has "Edit Signature" in it. Follow the instructions in the bottom half of the screen after you click on it.

Note that the down arrow and drop down menu don't seem to show up in IE 9.

Should be directly below Edit Profile. Someone in the other thread tried going direct to the page and got something about not being allowed...

For reference, might want to follow this thread - Duwis, the Web guy, has been active in it, on this issue...he appears to see no reason that these aren't available. Probably good to consolidate all these threads there.

Is there a way to see your previous personal forum posts anymore? I haven't been able to find that option since the new forum went active last fall.

Haha, yeah pretty much. It's the closest thing where this information should be, and this thread is a main link the MyLotro page help widget. Starting to think there's no old forum posts record anywhere anymore, but there should be at least in a widget. Figuring I just can't find it. You used to be able to see this forum post record on your personal character page.
