The Sanctuary is a kinship that's been around since pre-beta, and we're looking for any other players that would like to explore Middle-Earth together! We are committed to building a social, friendly atmosphere where casual gamers can feel comfortable. These goals started in Star Wars Galaxies, but there are different chapters of The Sanctuary in different MMOs.
Right now we're a small to medium-sized kinship, looking to grow with new players, or share our experience in-game with high level players. If you want to get an idea of what we value, or what our goals are, you should read our PLEDGE. If you're interested in growing your character up through the ranks, participating in low-stress raids, or just build in-game friendships, then this is the place for you. To learn more about us, please visit our website, http://www.lotro-sanctuary.com/ or shoot me a PM.
A beautiful post, Aquilla! As a former member of Sanctuary I can sincerely say that Sanctuary was and is like a family to me. I made a lot of friendships that I will never forget, and had some truly amazing experiences. It is an honor to have had the pleasure of venturing with these people!
edit: That now should say as a former and once again member of Sanctuary! Glad to be back gang!
We're quite small, and our characters are quite diverse in levels, but we have a strong alliance with several kinships, including Avatars of Lost Light, Defenders of the Light, Watchers of Middle Earth, The Team, and a new kinship I Found the Entwives. Off the server, our kinship includes players on the Codemasters server Laurelin, which makes our kinship forums quite lively, but much more personal in-game chatting. I think we have about 15 active players on Elendilmir, 4 of which have one or more 50s, but again, we have strong ties to some larger kinships.
Oh, and you can't have a post about Sanctuary without mentioning CAKE!
Amandakay on Elendilmir, Laurelin, and Landroval
On Elendilmir: Melda, Elweenia, Harweniel, Hallana, Gypsophilia, Kerthryth
On Landroval: Hallaniel
On Laurelin: Audfrith, Daffodillia
A friendly bump from the girl of two awesome kinships. Sanctuary is very small, but we are STUBBORNLY still here! If you are new to the game, or looking for a fresh start, Sanctuary might be just that for you: a sanctuary. We aren't and likely won't be a raiding kin on our own, but we are friends with kinships who do raid weekly. Feel free to find me in game, or pm our leader, Cuchir, or our officer, Aquilla, if you have any questions\would like to join us.

Another shameless bump, primarily to advertise the fact that I'm back to playing LOTRO on a regular basis, and that Sanctuary is still a wonderful place to call home. Any new people, low-level characters, or established individuals looking for a new place, we'd love to have you join us!
Yes, even with Aquilla being back, we promise we'll keep him under control! So come on in, just be sure to leave your sanity at the door! (really do love that line!)
Oh, these crumbs on my face are from a different cake...
“War must be while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend…” Faramir - The Two Towers
I just realized our thread title sounds like a thing you'd see on a sanitarium... Good Job! Finally got something right.

Figured I'd give us a little bump and say that if you'd like to join our other new members and get in on our 'newbie nights' and book runs, then give us a look and bring us cake!

Our numbers have jumped but we are still looking for new blood. All levels welcome, we are now hitting Moria instances to gear up higher players, as well as 'Newbie Nights' for new and lowbie players. Still, having fun is first on the agenda, and we surely haven't forgotten that!
Looking to jump ship with my lvl 60 hunter, not all that happy at my current kin, it seem to me to have gotten too big I feel kinda lost in the crowd.
I have discovered that my primary motivation for playing these games is the social interaction, not too concerned with stats, leveling and beating the latest boss, fun is the aim of the game and playing with friends is what it's all about.
So....some questions
Do you have many players from the Australia region?
Do you use voice in general gameplay or just for high end instances?
Do you have regular kin events?
Do you want to ask me anything?
My warden Steerpyke is currently unkinned so perhaps if accepatable to you I could get him joined up and see where it goes
Greetings! Well, first off, to answer your questions...
1) Players from the Australia region... well, we don't have any of those at this time, but it seems quite a few of us don't sleep, so I imagine that if you are on early enough, you'd have plenty of time around us. We'd have to see, I'd be intrigued how much we overlap. We are also apart of an alliance of a good number of kinships which pretty much has people on constantly. We also get in a lot of groups for high-end content from those alliances. We rarely have to PUG thanks to our allies.
2) We use voice-chat for anything and everything. A good portion of us are on it whenever we are playing cause well.... we have fun. We of course use it for high-end instances as well, but we use it whenever we can cause we seem to like each other. You aren't required to have it for just everyday stuff, but we do ask for it when we do do the instance stuff.
3) We try to have regular events for the kin on a nearly weekly basis. I know off the top of my head, we had an Uru/CD run Monday and Tuesday for people's class quests, we have a Trait night scheduled for this Saturday, and next week we have a Rift run planned. We also have impromptu events, 'Newbie Nights,' book nights, and then some more fun events, like tag nights and keg nights.
4) Well, questions for you... Well, if you could go to our website (www.lotro-sanctuary.com) and check out the pledge and make sure you agree to it that would be a good first step. If you do and you think you (and us) would fit well, then by all means, post on our forums in the recruitment thread. Mention that you agree to the pledge, tell us about yourself, add your characters to the CMS if you please, and, for extra kudos, bring cake... just don't give any to Shiv... he's a jerk...
Hope that helps you out! Best of luck in your search and we hope you find a great home, whether with us or elsewhere. ~Cuchir

Seems Cuchir (the REAL jerk) covered all the formalities. I would like to enforce that some of us do not sleep. I think we do a decent job of being on at many hours. However, we may not have an influx of people on at certain times. I would also be interested to see how times overlap. Anyway, glad to see you express interest and if your willing you can give us a trial run (and vice-versa). That website will hold all the answers I think, if not feel free to hunt us down and ask away.
Yes, I bought a US subscription so I can visit you lot once in a while!
You'd better have plenty of cake, there's a little hobbit burglar called Vetiver just arrived on Elendilmir and she's hungry. You think you hear thunder? No, that's her belly rumbling.
((I don't know how much I'll be on here but I thought it'd be cool to play with you guys sometimes ))
Hith! How in the world didn't I hear about this sooner? Why does my life always get busy when interesting things happen...
So... how many characters are you managing now? Anyways, I can't wait to see you in-game! Eventually we'll talk all of the EU to join us!

I'll probably play more once Book 7 goes live, but I do tend to play at what would be very unsocial hours for you lot. The EU maintenance window is a good time to see me on Elendilmir
Wow Hith! I should check out this thread more often. Glad to see you might be with us on this side of the pond from time to time. Hope I might meet you in-same. Now I have some instuctions from one of my officers that I need to carry out.
(Kicks Cuchir and Aquilla in the shins and runs away!)
I have to admit that Sanctuary is really a place to belong...a second family. Having never before played an MMO, the kin really took the time to educate me and make me feel welcome. We all get together as often as we can and run books, instances, and anything else someone needs help with. I can't imagine a better kinship to belong to.
If your out there looking to become a member of a great family and have alot of fun in the process you could not do any better than Sanctuary!!!!
My main is Cyanraen in game....look me up if your interested, I'd love to meet you. We don't have too many rules (although Cuch may disagree) but a love and respect of company and cake seems to be a must. I don't steal cake like some of the others..but I'm not above teaching someone else how to do it.
Glad to hear more positive stories and remind me to promote you for teaching people to steal Shiv's cake! Wait... you are teaching them to steal just Shiv's cake right?
*dashes to check my cake stash*
NOOOOO!!!!!
\cry

I think that cake is evil cause I wouldn't know whether to eat it or just stare at it lovingly... my precious...

No, that cake is awesome. In true hobbit tradition you must stare at a few minutes to take in all in and then devour it. After all, if the cake looks pretty but doesn't taste good then the baker has only done half the job. How can we know if the baker is truly talented if we do not taste the cake? And by taste I mean it the entire thing to ensure it baked evenly and the taste is consistent all the way through!
It would simply be irresponsible of us not to eat that cake. Sometimes duty can be such a heavy burden!
So, Sir Shiv and I were searching on Google for some info yesterday and came across an interesting and awesome fact. If you search for "lotro kinship" the only Kinship to come up on the first page and the third result is our beloved Sanctuary!!! Kudos to all and Aquilla for the awesome site and the amazing traffic and usage that we've seen that have put us in such an awesome (and prestigious) spot!
And no... I'm not a slac... oh I'm too lazy to continue that retort...

I have no idea how we got to be so high up on google's list, unless nobody can ever remember the address so they have to run a search for it. But you're right, that's pretty sweet; #3 spot of 32,100 results, and the first actual kinship to show up. I haven't felt this proud since we hit rank 10.
Been awhile since I (or anyone) posted on here... such slacking cake-eaters...
We're always looking for good people that want to have fun to join us. If you'd like to, as always check out our website (www.lotro-sanctuary.com) or send me a PM on these boards... I know Aquilla says to PM him, but he gets lazy or gets wife aggro and doesn't reply very quickly... bad little Aquilla... you need to get Patsy to answer your mail.
