Great Big Giant Hugs for Ophy!
Seriously, It is great to not have to remember all the commands for everything. Part of the reason my posts have always been rather plain is that I have too much other stuff to learn right now. (and in case he wanders in here. no Husband, I am not goofing off at lab. Seriously, we got out early.)

Additional
Forum Posting Tips™
We all are made aware at some time or another of the 10 character minimum post size... but rather than adding some garbage text at the end of your post consider one of these two approaches.- Use embedded spaces. Each space you type counts toward the minimum but spaces between words or smilies or punctuation are compressed to only one space for display purposes.
i.e. OK<spc><spc><spc><spc><spc><sp c><spc>! is displayed as OK ! and still meets the 10 character post size requirement. - Take it a step further and hide the trailing punctuation by setting the color equal to the background. Keep this text in a handy .txt file for a quick cut-n-paste to the end of your cleverly crafted one or two letter reply.
Code:
[color=#303030] .[/color]
Finally (I love keyboard shortcuts) in the Enhanced Editor which Ophy is touting you can select a block of text and hit Ctrl-B to bold it, Ctrl-I to italicize it, or Ctrl-U to underline it. You can also hit those keys to turn the attributes on or off as you are typing.Grakaw the Overpowered (R7 Warg) - Chantilly the Overpowered (R7 Spider)

Re: A Signature Plea and All that Other Forum Stuff
What I always wanted to figure out was how people post two of their characters' graphical sigs. I think I've seen a few people doing that and I was assuming they had two accounts.

Re: A Signature Plea and All that Other Forum Stuff
LOVE IT! Adding it to the initial post. THANKS!!! *big grin*
While we're on it, ctrl is my best friend. I use it ALL the time. Not only for the features you added, but here's some more (I won't add these because they're not format friendly, just trick friendly.
Hold down ctrl + arrow key (↔) and the cursor moves between words. Hold down Ctrl + Shift + ↔ and you will highlight words at a time. Hold down Ctrl + Shift + up or down and you'll select whole paragraphs at a time. And last but not least, Ctrl + A highlights ALL!
And for universal rules in document programs, Ctrl + S = Save, Ctrl + P = Print, and Ctrl + O = Open. Just for fun one day I hit Ctrl + every button on my keyboard.
I honestly don't think you're allowed to have more than 1 anymore, but at one time you could use this feature to get multiple images. I would imagine if those that have two images were to edit their signature now, the second of the two would vanish to never come back.◊ Ophelia Darkfell ◊Master, Storm of the Valar"Love all, trust few, do wrong to none."I believe the words you're looking for are... Re: A Signature Plea and All that Other Forum Stuff
Great write-up Ophy!
Hopefully you can help me out here...
I'm trying to add a second Character Sig to my signature. I'm wanting to add my creep sig next to my Ray sig, but I also still want to keep the character text below. For some reason, every time I go to copy/paste the link into the text next to the Ray sig, then click Preview Post (or save for that matter), the preview comes back the same as before and it's erased the link I pasted.
Even if I delete all of my other text and simply try to paste the link, it gets cleared whenever I click save or preview. The link does work though, because I can post it here, and you'll see it:

There's no warnings of too many lines or anything like that. So, tell me, how does one get two Character Sigs in the signature?

Re: A Signature Plea and All that Other Forum Stuff
Thanks everyone!

Unfortunately for you, they removed the ability to have more than one character sig image in your signature. They were running into an issue where people could put so many (because it was only counting characters) that it was going across the whole screen and cutting off at the bottom of the table size so they changed it to only allow one. The way the code works is it looks for the first character sig code and then remvoes any/all that come after it. You'll see some people still with more than one image in their signature (people that put them in there when they still were able to), but if they were to go and edit it at this point, they'd lose the second+ images for good.
If you'd like to have the image accessable in your signature, I'd recommend linking the text of your Creep's name to the image itself!

Re: A Signature Plea and All that Other Forum Stuff
Ophy, you rule so tough, thank you for this!!
I found this thread because I don't remember how to change the text for a link, for example showing the name of the kin you are in and when you mouse over it you get the link to the kin's website. I still haven't found that info, can anyone remind me?
Edit: just found the info elsewhere, so adding to this thread in case anyone else needs it (or I forget again). My apologies if it was already here and I missed it:
Use the following format:
{url=http://forums.lotro.com}Lotro Forums{/url}
But substitute [ for { and ] For }
That should be correct.

Re: A Signature Plea and All that Other Forum Stuff
Glad people are still finding this a useful thread! Makes all the work worth it.

Great tip! And if you want to go one further, after you've changed your defuault editor to be the fancy schmancy everything and the kitchen sink one, you can simply highlight the word(s) you'd like to be links and then click the globe button and instert the link.

You can remove the link by clicking the link button with the red X across it located next to the globe with your cursor anywhere in the word that's linked.◊ Ophelia Darkfell ◊Master, Storm of the Valar"Love all, trust few, do wrong to none."I believe the words you're looking for are... Re: A Signature Plea and All that Other Forum Stuff
Added information about the pop-up links from the LotRO Lorebook.
Pop-Up Links from the Lorebook:
Hover your mouse --> here <-- to see what I'm referring to.
Talking about skills and gear is all fine and dandy but adding a link to your info. is even better. Turbine went one further for us and added a feature through the Lorebook (link on the top of the forums) that allows you to link with a pop-up making your smarty pants post even more grounded in fact.
There's really nothing other than the knowledge that it exists for you to learn how to do it. Simply put the link anywhere you'd like and as the reader hovers over the link with their mouse, you get a pop up. Check out the example here with a pop up about the Blackarrow skill Moving Target.
If the link is bad or if you miss copied it, you'll get a pop up that says "Item Not Found" so you'll know you need to re-check the address. Keep in mind that you can only point people to items, skills and traits. You cannot link anything that isn't representative by an in-game icon.
If you're unfamilar with how to insert a link inside text, all you have to do is simply highlight the word(s) you'd like to be links and then click the globe button and instert the link. (Visual) You can remove the link by clicking the link button with the red X across it located next to the globe with your cursor anywhere in the word that's linked.Last edited by romoen; Jan 14 2010 at 07:12 PM. Re: A Signature Plea and All that Other Forum Stuff
Added a section on nesting quotes as well as cleaned up some formatting and added a section on the Reputation system.
The Reputation System:
Starting January 11, 2010 the forums introduced a reputation system.
What is the Reputation System?
The Reputation System on the LOTRO forums allows forum members to give and receive "Reputation" points to each other based on each others' posts. Did someone write a really killer guide to the Warden class? Did another member help you out when you had a question? Give them props through the Reputation system! The higher your Reputation, and the longer you've been a LOTRO forums member, the more power you have to raise (or lower) other players' Reputations!
How do I give Reputation?
When you're looking at a post and want to give Reputation points to the poster, click on the Reputation icon, which looks like a pair of scales. You'll be asked if you approve or disapprove of the post; choose whichever you like, then click on "Add to Reputation." (Visual)
What does Reputation look like on the forums?
When you have positive Reputation, it is displayed as green boxes. The boxes are grey if you have 0 Reputation, and red if you have negative Reputation. (Visual)
Is there an easy way for me to see what Reputation I've received?
Once you've received Reputation from other users, clicking on User CP will show you the last 10 Reputation clicks you've received and on which of your posts. You cannot see who left the Reputation. (Visual)
What if I don't want to display my Reputation to other forum members?
You can toggle whether your Reputation is displayed to other members by going to User CP -> Edit Options and checking or unchecking the "Show My Reputation Level" box. (Visual)
To view the full Reputation System FAQ, click here.◊ Ophelia Darkfell ◊Master, Storm of the Valar"Love all, trust few, do wrong to none."I believe the words you're looking for are... "I agree with Ophelia."
