The House of Blackrock
The House of Blackrock is a Rank 8 Kinship on the Windfola server.
We are casual and family friendly.
If you are interested, please read on.
We are actively recruiting all races and classes.
The guild’s goal is to meet and keep gaming friends. We offer a mature and friendly gaming environment. We are looking for active players who want to be a part of a very unique gaming community. We thrive because; on-line gaming is more fun with the company and assistance of friends.
The House of Blackrock is a guild and gaming community that was established in 1996. We are a multi gaming guild with individual and respected Chapters in: WoW, GW, and, of course, LoTRo
. Our members are always trying and testing new MMORPG’s, so we investigate those interest us as well. We have active forums, with gaming support resources such as Teamspeak and Ventrillo servers.
Our membership age ranges from teens to sixties, and geographically spans the globe (although most are adults residing in the North American Continent). Most of us have jobs or college commitments and families, therefore we support the premise that real-life has priority over game-life, so power gaming isn’t required. What we aren’t and won’t tolerate are racists, bigots, flamers, “leet” gamers, or any such distasteful type of person.
If this seems like a good fit for you, visit us in our forums: www.hobonline.org/hobforumsLast edited by jan_spratt; Nov 08 2007 at 02:38 PM. Reason: Added Signature

Re: The House of Blackrock
As a member (and now leader) of The House of Blackrock, I just want to emphasize how casual- and family-friendly this wonderful kinship is. HoB does indeed have many chapters, and many very experienced MMO gamers, but it also has a great many members like me, for whom LOTRO is their first serious MMO, and who don't have more than 10 or so hours a week to devote to the game.
Even with my time and playstyle constraints, I've found a warmly welcoming group of gamers, and I urge you to take a look at HoB if you'd like to experience LOTRO with a feeling of real fellowship.Elrandir of Rivendell, noldo of the exile, et al., Windfola
Finduilion of Edhellond, Alqualonde-born, Servants of the Secret Fire, Landroval

Re: The House of Blackrock
I posted a message of my own and oumagic (Dwin) was kind enough to reply and point me to this thread. I visited your website/forums and like what I've seen so far. Your kinship/guild seems much more organized than the one I belonged to while playing SWG and I like that a lot. I also like that you're a larger group, but not an overwhelming size. I see that you have approximately 150-200 active members and was just wondering how many of those actually play LOTRO.
I would also like to know if it would be possible to play with some of your members (possibly a leader or two) sometime just so I can get a feel for how you interact with each other both on a personal level as well as in the game. Unfortunately I can't really give you a set time that I'm available. I have a girlfriend, a family, and a job and those are the three most important things in my life. I just want to make you aware of that from the start. I don't want anyone to think I'm not dedicated or willing to commit just in case something were to come up that is a higher priority than LOTRO.
Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you soon!!!
P.S. My original thread that Dwin replied to can be found here if anyone is interested.

Re: The House of Blackrock
Hello All,
After looking over your guild description I'd like to enquire about joining. I really like the fact it's a casual environment and geared towards people who have a life outside the game.
I work full time so can't really commit to power levelling like many other guilds would expect. In fact I'm so interested this is my forum post!

Re: The House of Blackrock
Hi there,
You all sound like a great guild and perfect fit for me. I just started LOTRO and also play WoW. I'm completely fascinated with the detail in LOTRO it's a refreshing change. I'm an older player and quite casual. Toon Name = Darquin, Level 12 Hunter (and as you can see I'm slacking a little on the crafting =P)
Thanks for considering.

Re: The House of Blackrock
And if anyone else is intereted in joining a fun kin we are still accepting new members. We have been averaging 15-20 people on at any given time during the evening so there are plenty of people of all classes and levels to quest and trade with as well a place to share information and ask questions.

Re: The House of Blackrock
From an officer of the House - another shout-out for a great kin! If your style is a little more laid back and low-key, one that enjoys the game and is not in a race to beat everyone else to the end-game material, House of Blackrock may be for you! We have a growing population of new players and a core of seasoned GM's. We are big on helping each other out and enjoy several casual alliances with other kins.
Give us a shout! hobonline.org

Re: The House of Blackrock
After 15 months of LoTRO and reading these forums, this is the best place for me to actually write a post and say something useful:
House of Blackrock really is the fun/enjoyable/helpful kinship that earlier posts make it out to be. Give a shout here or ingame or use the hobonline link provided earlier.

Re: The House of Blackrock
The House of Blackrock continues to welcome new members. Visit www.hobonline.org for more information. You'll discover why, throughout Middle Earth, in many a hamlet and village people will occasionally start singing:
"Young man, there's no need to feel down.
I said, young elf, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young dwarf, 'cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy.
It's fun to be in the H-o-B, eh?
It's fun to be in the H-o-B, eh?"
… and then get back to the task at hand.
