LOTROHerald version 1.0 now available in the App Store

Hello all,

I am very happy to say that LOTROHerald, my game server status and my.lotro.com character viewer is now available in the App Store for iPhone users !

NEW UPDATE !!!: Version 1.0.1 has been approved by Apple and fixes the problem with saving the character list along with a few other things.

Hey mate.. Great job!

It's quite clear though it appears to hang sometimes (when it's getting data everything becomes unresponsive.. But that's only a real problem if the network is a bit flaky).

I am having a problem though.. No matter what I do it will not save any changes to the character list and everytime I start the app it restores the defaults. Am on iPhone OS 3.1 - any help would be appreciated!

I look forward to see it grow (and hopefully turbine opening up some more of it's data for creative community focused apps such as these) =)

Have worked it out..

To ensure that it saves changes to the character list you need to:

- Add a Character (or more, can delete defaults as well).
- Don't move from Character List to any other screen and close out of the app by pressing the iphone menu button.
- Restart the app and go to the Character list and they're there - yay! =)

If you move to any other screen, or even view character info before you close the app straight after adding it doesn't appear to save the list.

I have version 1.0.1 submitted to Apple as we speak and it fixes this problem. The characters should now save as soon as they get added to the list, instead of when the app quits.

This app is gorgeous! Thanks so much crafting it; you definitely achieved critical success with this one ;-). Looking forward to the update, but glad to have the workaround for saving the character list in the meantime.

If you have an iPhone and play LOTRO, you really should grab this. It's a great app and very well done!

This is fantastic! This app has replaced the two I used to use for server status and character info. Everything is well organized and looks great. I love the moors ranking especially. Great job!

Hats off to Howard for the great work - this is a really wonderful little app, and man is it polished.

I saw a comment in the reviews that someone wanted to save the splash screen as their iPhone's wallpaper. You can do this by taking a screenshot - hold down the Home button and press the top-right one to take a screenshot, which saves to your Camera Roll (this is a neat trick that will work anywhere on the phone actually). Then just set that to your wallpaper.

Got them for my iTouch when they first came out. The only problem is that I don't play that class any longer... I guess I need to update it!
