Have you done things like MemTest or other stress testing suites? It could well be a hardware issue if the graphics adapter has a dieing GPU or RAM. LotRO pushes graphics harder than a lot of other...

Have you tried 'Windows Update'? As I recall in WinXp, the .Net files are updated through the updater but are not listed as critical. They are in the optional updates.
