Re: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
The evolution of the LOTRO Battle Goat tracks those stories you hear of invasive species that they bring over for one purpose but which evolve and become something else:

Re: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
Actually, I think goats are MUCH smaller than Mumakil. Mumak are based on RL elephants. But I think I read somewhere Mumak are supposed to be larger than RL elephants.
As to the explanation for... -

Re: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
I expect part of the reason as well is that most people know the Lord of the Rings through Peter Jackson's movies, not by reading the books. Peter Jackson stretched things in a number of places to...

Re: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
Its not really "hard RP" to question this decision by Turbine. I am just stating that there should be lines drawn somewhere.
These games are supposed to bear some relation to their titles and... -

Re: AW: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
As you correctly point out, it really doesn't matter what anyone of us say at this point, as Turbine has helpfully decided the issue already by making all the new content horse-dependent.
BUT,... -

Oops I should have made clear I agreed with you! I was writing in parody of the arguments you hear from people who oppose any restrictions on their favorite Tolkien race.

Re: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
And isn't this the same sort of rationalization that is ALWAYS trotted out when Turbine makes a dubious design call?
It goes like this:

If I had known Turbine would turn playing a spider into The Book of Job Online, I might have reconsidered the years I spent ranking.

Re: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
All the counter-arguments boil down to: NEVER say a LOTRO Hobbit or Dwarf can't do something!
None can stand against the combined might of the Hobbit and Dwarf fan clubs. Believe me I have no... -

Re: AW: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
You should rest easy - Turbine has made clear the lore goes out the window when it comes to keeping subscribers. That is why the choice of race is almost completely cosmetic, why we had a...

Re: AW: Dwarf and Hobbit Cavalry?
Yes, I know that is the reason. It just seems strange since you don't really see it in the books.
It also sort of takes away the unique aspects of being from Rohan or a country that used cavalry... -

Re: Range of Scytode Brood
I doubt there is any logical reasoning behind it. Typically, Turbine defaults to giving Creeps the "Wile E. Coyote" version of a similar ability possessed by Freepside. Hence, if the Freeps have a...

I wouldn't take these posts too seriously. Since the game went live, the PVP forums have been among the most heavily trolled in the game.

The ironic thing is that the game from a galaxy far far away is turning into a non-threat to Turbine as far as PVP goes. If you think the threads blasting PVM here are rough, check those out and...
