I remember seeing the original revelries post back when I first played and thought it was awesome. Gotta say, good -grief- chronicler sounds fun.

The answer to 3 is that those features exist standard in the game. You can toggle the RP flag on with /roleplay on and the bio/description is under your character sheet.
There are literally college courses on Tolkien's lore, so to speak. So there's no central lore resource, and no one who knows everything there is to know. It's just too damned fast and detailed...

I recently returned to LOTRO after some time away and decided to roll on Laurelin. I've really enjoyed my short time here and the quality and quantity of RP that I've found.
I'm a newly arrived Landroval convert, playing on Laurelin from the west coast of the US. It can be rather quiet, at least in the lower level zones but I don't regret it. It depends on what's more...

It'll be some time before my new Rohirrim main will be at level to get there, but I look forward to it! I love when RPs are given empty spaces to do creative things with.

The first I saw was skill chains in Final Fantasy XI, back in 2005. EQ2 has a system very similar to LOTROs. The exact implementation hasn't been done, but the general idea has been in several MMOs.
