Hello my fellow awesome wardens. i am level 59 now and i am finally doing my class quests. After reading the notes to go find Redtusk, i realize that that is about as vague as you are going to get. so i go to the handy dandy lorebook and look him up. he is in the area i suspected. however after searching the area for 15 minutes i saw no trace of him. Is the lorebook wrong, does he have a really long spawn rate, or am i just getting unlucky?

so wardens are great one of my favourite things in lotro now is jump on warden and get a circle of mobs and survive

question is in full fellowship/raid why bring a warden.

warden vs. tank we can both hold aggro sure but wardens will take a bit more dmg if warden does die there is no engage type skill to instantly put the warden back at the top of the threat list and when things go poorly and you are sitting at 200 morale there is nothing to pop that is really going to save you

warden vs. champ tank.. pretty much the same thing warden takes a bit more dmg. if champ dies a few rising ire will pull aggro sure warden has conviction/dow but from watching wardens struggle seems rising on 10s cd recovers quicker. champ doesn't really have the survival skills tank does but still a few more than warden

so question is why a warden vs. other tank?

especially with so much dependent on aggro switches now
bg bosses, turtle, it all just seems so much easier with other classes as tanks.

i'll be the first to admit i'm not the greatest warden but i do play with some who are very good and seems that with raid content designed as it is wardens should get a few things.

1.) oh @#$! skill similar to guardians pledge i play a hobbit and somehow play dead doesn't seem like the thing to do when minstrels fall behind healing.
2.) an engage type skill.. yes our threat generation is awesome but so is a champs and a guardians. warden should have something that puts us back near the top of the threat list after death/total aggro wipe

i'm well aware wardens can and have tanked everything successfully reason i bring these up again is it seems to be getting more lopsided with mechanics instead of less..

3.) stun recovery. yes the heavy armour guards get turn the tables but warden who is relying on hots/long gambits to stay up has to sit in medium armour and take the pounding.

for 1.) examples well any boss really but some i've often seen are blind one after a missed clobber, watcher after a crit or devastating crushing devastation.. or while dangling in front of the watcher. guardian has pledge here, champ has sudden defence & adamant that while not pledge in benefit help enough that with the heavy armour make it considerably easier to tank with them.

for 2.)
examples i'll put out are durchest hm if our rk or capt misses the cooldown that will either absorb the 6k hit or let us survive and warden dies what chance does warden have of taking aggro back 3-400k in? compare that to champ or guardian its as easy as a 1 key for guardian maybe 3-4 for a champ.

on fire boss (twins in bg) if aggro switches go bad (yes our mistake) and warden takes a yellow deaggro eye i have yet to see a warden recover threat again tank or champ its relatively quick and ez

for 3.)
examples again are every mob that stuns us i've even been killed by 3 wargs in mirkwood when i let myself drop to half for a power boost and got stunned, dotted and died before the stun was gone a guard in the situation probably could have made a drink and not died even without ttt due to heavier armour.

so why bring a warden to tank? well its fun and makes for some great screenshots but we can get those solo

corruptions honestly other classes can usually cover as well

i'm sure someone will say quit whining and yes i did get some cheese before i posted because thats true it doesn't change the disparity though

someone else will probably ask for a force taunt but i'm one of the few who don't have a problem with ours tbh with our gambit builders its possible to keep it up except for animation time if only we got something like the buff guards do when they hit challenge the darkness.. oh but nm i get to reflect common dmg

I know this has been hit on before, but not clearly; usually embedded and convoluted in another thread. I want to know what you guys think about warcry. Up until now, I have been seriously disappointed in the threat gathering legs of our mainhands. PB and Conviction are the gambits I use most when gathering and holding threat. The problem lies in the legs you find on our mainhand legendaries. Sure you can get Conviction on a jav. You can also get EoB on a mainhand, which when tiered up, works nicely. However, Piercing Strike and SoV seem to be useless when compared to PB; they take longer to execute and according to the tooltips, don't generate as much threat. So why level those up if PB is so more useful.

For me, the problem's confounded when you add in WarCry. Since using it, I've had very little success gaining or holding aggro on single mobs or groups. The only advantage I can see to it is the fear possibility when it's traited. I don't have the an image hosting site and I'm not sure if there's another way, but I picked up a 2nd age 65 spear and was a bit disappointed with the legs:

T6 Warcry
T5 Wall of Steel
T3 Mighty Blow damage
T3 Surety of Death damage
T3 hampering jav duration

As far as I can tell, this was a huge waste of a symbol. For increased threat, I have had very little success with WC. The damage increases don't seem that good, mind you are never really solo so I don't usually think about DPS. Since the only 2 starting legs were WC and WoS, those are what I'm stuck with for the life of the weapon (replacing one with Vit of course).

So am I missing something or is this really a waste of a weapon? Are there really any great mainhand combos out there? I like EoB for increased threat but the other threat skills seem to pale in comparison to PB. Finally, is there a use to WC that I am missing? I really hope so.

Thanks in advance.

And please excuse the sig;I need to change that ;)
