Greetings :)

I created a Thread in the General Discussion earlier this day to express my displeasure of the new Hobbit Present feature which in my opinion gives way too high quality stuff (I got a First Age Gauntlet Set with stats which compete the group gear of the same level) for the actual effort required in order to acquire them which is none by the way. So in one of the replies somebody told me that Hobbit Presents were created to encourage players to log in daily and "challenged" me to propose an alternative to those if I dislike them so much. So after some time of thinking what would be a great alternative I came up with the following suggestion:

The Award of the Week

It is a weekly reward which in order to claim you have to log in for seven successive days and each one of these days to be logged in for at least one hour in total. The rules for this are:

1) Time being AFK does not count in the timer
2) Logging out does not reset the timer. So you can play half an hour in the morning and the rest in the afternoon for example.

If you do so for a week then a small alert will come up and by clicking on it you will get one of the following awards:

5 Turbine Points

Tome of Deed Accelerator (15 min)

Enhanced Reputation Supply (15 min)

Craft XP Accelerator (15 min)

Quest & Kill XP Accelerator (15 min)

And if you do so for over a month then you get The Award of the Month which is the same thing and the only thing which is slightly different are the awards which are:

10 Turbine Points

Tome of Deed Accelerator (30 min)

Enhanced Reputation Supply (30 min)

Craft XP Accelerator (30 min)

Quest & Kill XP Accelerator (30 min)

Note that by getting The Award of the Month you do not get any Award of the Week for the last week of that month.

I believe that the difference of this suggestion with Hobbit Presents is that for these awards you have to actually log in and play the game while with Hobbit Presents you have to only log in and nothing more.

So do you like what suggested above ? Feel free to post your comments or even post your own suggestion considering the awards if you think that the ones suggested are inappropriate. I also couldn't come up with a good name for the system so feel free to propose a name you think will fit better to the game.

As any player knows, targeting enemies...specifically the foe you want to target, is a perpetual problem. Tab targeting is taboo amongst hunters (although I do better with that than with click targeting!) In raids, target forwarding or raid assist is helpful for certain things, but generally less so for CC targets. Of course, the advent of mounted combat has made the limitations of the targeting system even more apparent. It's virtually impossible to target an enemy who is behind you. Instead, you get squirrels and foes you are trying not to pull into combat.

My suggestion is a display that very briefly lists the foes you are currently in combat with, which you can use to select your target. I think that the enemy name and a small vitals display would be adequate. A nice addition would be an icon with the target's "mark" (shield, spear, star, etc.) This could look similar to the current raid assist window.

I'd like to see a way to add our own custom flags on our maps. While most navigation can be done with the quest guide and existing points of interest, it would often be helpful to mark things that don't otherwise have points.

A couple examples that have come up recently:
Nona's Cave: It was a pain to find even when you had a quest there. I was mortified when I'd completed the epic, but wanted to go back and do the Interludes. I hadn't picked up the quests, so I didn't have a quest guide, and there's no map point for Nona's cave!

Chest of the XXX: I was playing a lowbie in Evendim doing Rumming's Riddles. It's been forever so since I did it last, so it took me a while to find all the chests. Of course, I'd find ones that I knew I'd need later for another riddle, but had no way to mark where it was for future reference (at least I made good progress on my salamander deed!)

Path from Rivendell to the Bruinen Gorge: OK, so I've run, walked, ridden, stealthed (although not chickened yet) up and down this path a million times, and I STILL get lost. I'd like to mark the path on my map with a couple flags to remind me which way to go. This would also be incredibly helpful for marking all the tricky paths through Moria!

I think this would be a doable thing (and not contribute to the massive amount of character data or lag) if the map point information were stored client-side.

Return the options to have 4 different kinds of output, back onto the Scroll of Eomer. Before U11 there were 4 different versions of the scroll of Eomer that could be crafted with either the 1 shot recipe or the guilded recipe. But after U11 there is only the Vitality version. Nothing in the patch notes states this was to be changed. If it was intentional you took the 1 item other than LIs that Historians make that are not consumables and totally nerfed them. Some ppl have stated in other posts that Turbine did this intentionally to force ppl to grind for the new gold pockets in Wildermore. I hope this is not true, and if so why was not some of the armors and weapons nerfed to make ppl grind for the gold recipes and gold drops in the other instances.

I was still leveling up my alts and equip them with new gear when the change was made, even if turbine puts the 4 versions back in now. My scholar can only crit 1 a week 100% and I would have to try to crit the rest using the terrible inaccurate rolling system they have for crafting.

"Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. According to Turban et al. (2002),[1] "Customer service is a series of activities designed to enhance the level of customer satisfaction – that is, the feeling that a product or service has met the customer expectation."" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Customer_service

Seriously, if I saw anything that even slightly resembled good customer service relations and didn't think they were actually just trying to get me to largely increase my spending through trickery and deceit, I would sign back up for VIP in a heartbeat. The evidence is contrary on many issues, though.

Recently they quietly removed the task reset token from the gifts you got for hitting another 100 task level target. I'm assuming they felt they were missing an opportunity to get us to buy 400 to 500 TP of product in those reset tokens. Obviously not a positive customer relations move and in my case it was just another push towards ending my VIP.

While the idea of new content in game updates is often a good move in the eyes of players, the most recent update didn't allow many of us to play at all the first day. 14 hours after they finished the update, I personally had followed all their advice and nothing changed until they must have fixed something on their end, because around 1:30 AM EST, I was finally able to log on. Of course, within the next three days, I ran into two turn ins that were bugged and ground my progress to a halt. One was fixed and one was not, so still being unable to continue that quest line, I moved to something else, all the while wondering if this would cause a future bug on another turn in, as the last had been order related, according to the forums. As luck would have it, my VIP sub ran out while this was going on and with almost 2 years on VIP, I found myself wondering if I should continue it or give up. I gave it up.

A recent reduction in coinage was, we were led to believe, part of an effort to simplify and reduce the number of different tokens we deal with. Obviously, someone missed the memo, since the new area has new tokens to add to our already large number. Coin reduction seemed to be more about making the Mithril coin a new cash cow for LOTRO and Turbine. That's fine with me, as I don't expect them to do this for free or even a low fee. I expect them to want to profit, as it's a business. What I don't expect is being mislead about reasons for items or not being given any reasons and just expected to "go with the flow", as it were... There may be people that play this game that are stupid, but treating us all as if we are stupid or don't matter, by only informing us about trivial matters, is the worst customer service policy you could have...

There are plenty of things that would fall under good customer relations that would take little effort and would have no negative effect on you as a company, but would reap a lot of good CR comments and possibly get word of mouth going in a positive flow again. I was brought to this game by that positive flow and none of the group that got me to start playing, ever tries to get people to come here any more. That speaks volumes about the current LOTRO experience...

All I can find is some very simple one sentence descriptions on the main LOTRO site. Those have not changed since the beginning and don’t tell us very much.

I assume that internally Turbine must have better and more complete descriptions of:

1)	Class. Should probably be 3-4 paragraphs on each class describing their role on combat and mounted combat, plus other LORE stuff.

2)	Race. There are descriptions of each race. But it doesn’t explain why some classes are not available to some races. The lore should be expanded. For example, you say that dwarves are master craftsmen. Then why don’t they have an advantage in some crafting professions? [NO, I’m not asking for a change, it’s just an example of an inconsistency]

3)	Legendary Items. We need good, updated, 3-4 paragraphs explaining the lore behind legendary items. The lore should explain WHY we destroy our legendary items all the time and have to find and craft new ones.

4)	Traits. Give us 3-4 paragraphs explain the idea/concept/lore of traits.

Then maybe what you’ve changed in mounted combat will make sense to me.

I can’t think of a single reason why you would not share this with the player community. Who knows, it might lead to better feedback for you.

Why do I think Turbine must have good internal descriptions? Because if you don't know where you are going then any road will get you there.

It would be a great feature to have a PVMP Map State Meter on the Monster Login Screen that would show the balance on the moors before you select to login Freepside or Creepside.

If you could see some simple thermometer bar of who owns more of the moors it could help direct you to which side to log into first.

Right now, if I want to know what the state of the moors is, I have to login to a character freepside that is not located in the Ettenmoors and that a high enough level to see the Ettenmoors map. I can see the number of blue/red owned areas. If I want to play freepside, I then re-log to my PVMP Freep. If I want to go creepside, I have to re-login to my Creep.

Having a Map State Meter could help avoid side-timeouts just trying to decide which side needs more "help".

A simple meter: Red/Neutral/Blue could help me select which side to login to the first time.
