I have the following options chosen in my discussion settings related to comments, moderation, and notification:
- Allow people to post comments on the article
- Anyone posts a comment
- A comment is held for moderation
- Comment author must have a previously approved comment
When I receive notification about new comments or reminders to moderate, the 'to' field contains the commenter's name (label) instead of a valid email address; however, the commenter's email address does appear in the body of the notification and in the 'reply-to' field. The result is that my spam filter always classifies the notification as spam and I cannot train it to allow these emails without a consistent value in the "TO" field.
Right now my work-around is to use filters to look for the bracketed blog name (i.e. "[Lonnath Arda]"). It's not ideal and has the added problem of rules in multiple places since I use Gmail underneath but read it with several different email clients aside from Google's web app.
I would be ok with using the commenter's email address in the TO field, but it doesn't really solve the problem, and I'd actually prefer my.lotro not expose this information. The best solution would be to send as a no-reply or admin account at lotro.com--or even at my.lotro.com since subdomains are valid for email addresses. That way I could add the my.lotro.com bot account to my address book and not miss any more notifications or maybe other my.lotro.com-related emails.
